Color Returns - Spring 2018 - Three Palettes #1

Posted by

The days of white and gray are falling away.  Through the years, history has shown that during times of economic depression, war, strife and spiritualism, color falls away and earthy neutrals and grays will dominate in fashion and design styles.  These neutral tones and vertical lines with simplistic shapes will be seen throughout the design world.

Historically, as economies improve and people are feeling more positive, color, rich and full, will dominate.  More horizontal lines along with more ornamentation will be incorporated in fashion and the home.  This trend will include more intense colors rather than pastels.  Intense colors seem to be a natural application of our intense lifestyles.  Color and design has always reflected society, its values, and its social awareness.

Purple reign it is. Ultra Violet is Pantone's 2018 Color of the Year, so expect to see the dynamic hue all over fashion, interiors and design in the upcoming year. Why purple? According to Pantone, the shade inspires “visionary thinking” and it has a spiritual element, as well. It is the color of the mysterious cosmos, healing crystals and the purplish lighting in meditation rooms.  It's about the deeper you.

Here are some ideas and images that express the beauty of these colors.
